Howdy! This is In The Data, the newsletter that gives you tips and tricks from a Data Analyst every week.

You can think of this newsletter like the friend you met online that is more trustworthy than any body you've met in person...

A few more things I did yesterday as a junior Data Analyst...

I noticed that downloading a bigger (~2.5 million row 20 column) dataset as a .csv file gave me the ability to filter around 3-4x faster than querying directly from a database in Tableau.

What gives?

I don't know if this is always the case, but let's just say I'm NOT a fan of Tableau. Though it is nice for ad-hoc/quick visualizations I guess...

  • Working through the initial process of writing to a database in Google Cloud. Crappy

  • Meetings to discuss exactly what a client wants... I don't think a lot of people realize how much talking, discussing, and reworking goes into being a data analyst...

There are many skills to learn as a young gun... but that's why you have me and I have you ;)

Looks a but outdated and who knows the accuracy of the data but still. You cannot go wrong learning one of the top 3 languages pictured above...

If this kind of daily summary is something you would enjoy, share with a friend! The more people that give me feedback the better I can make this for YOU
